A great Sunday indeed but for...

Weekends are generally meant for relaxing yourself after a duelling week and also for refreshing ahead of a tiresome week ahead. There is no particular rule of how you achieve it, but in general, you get relaxed by watching a nice little movie, following your favourite sport, eating your favourite dish and catching up with some of that lost sleep. While you may not be able to do all of this all the time, some weekends indeed turn out to be really great.

For me, this Sunday started with an entertaining Hollywood sequel, Hangover II. For all the apprehensions I had, given the generally negative reviews about the movie, the movie did turn out to be an entertaining one. Kudos to the makers for returning with a sequel that doesn't fail to fit its bill. To build on the already set framework with some funny yet intelligent screenplay is really commendable. With both the (eligible) bachelors having entered their wedding bliss (Stu, this time), got to see if the makers return with an another one, centering around the joker of the wolfpack, Alan. Fingers crossed and looking forward to it...

Adding some icing on the cake is the opportunity I got to meet one of my juniors, after a long long time. Though we are in constant touch electronically, it's different to meet someone in person and the harsh reality is you seldom get to do this in our fast-paced life. To top it all, to just feel lighter by 120 bucks and yet have a good movie-watching experience in Bangalore was really a blessing to start the day.

As if a Hollywood flick wasn't enough for my movie watching appetite, the power cut at my home on this relatively hot Sunday afternoon, propelled me to watch the much proclaimed movie, Mynaa. Believe me or not, everyone one of those views are indeed true. This is one hell of an emotional movie so well-etched by its director, Prabu Solomon. Though was literally running through a movie marathon, there were no signs of fatigue in my eyes or mind. Such was the gripping nature of the screenplay of this wonderful flick.

To be frank, some moments in the movie were even so thrilling than what you could catch with a big-budget movie. Though I'm not game for sad endings to a film, like most other hard-hitting, straight-from the heart films, even this ends on a sore note. Neverthless, hats off to this director for proving his mettle once again and giving us such a wonderful portrait of (raw) human emotions.

As if this Sunday wasn't to be done with these two brilliant movies (entertaining in their own respect), there was much in store for me in the evening, in the name of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL). Very heart-warming indeed to see your cine-stars play some really good entertaining cricket and also proudly bring the cup home. IPL or CCL, Chennai is rocking like anything and what more you could ask for, on a Sunday. But then, as I was enjoying and savouring my weekend in this manner, a really serious disturbing development was taking place in the (a)political front of our nation, making it a not so perfect Sunday. Not sure where these are heading to... but, many things to say from my heart and to hear them all, do watch this space in few days...
